Victor Vollmer the Third

Victor may just be a little kid—and one with a stutter, at that—but he's definitely the protagonist and hero of Paperboy. The whole story revolves around Victor's summer and how he finds himself in trouble and then eventually gets out of it. Victor has to deal with the dangerous Ara T breaking into his house and stealing from him, and also has to contend with the fact that his father isn't biologically related to him. These are all really tough things, but Victor manages to work through it all, and he even becomes less self-conscious about his stutter in the process. Yay.
