Men Are Idiots
- That winter is pretty awful. Nikki doesn't seem sorry about her misdeeds since going to jail; instead, she gets more intense and reckless.
- One night, Aunt Bobbie tells Matthew that Murdoch had to go to the emergency room because one of Nikki's admirers bit him. What in the world? Matthew demands to know how all these guys are so stupid and easily won over by Nikki; he just doesn't get it.
- Because Aunt Bobbie doesn't have a satisfactory explanation, Matthew goes to Ben and demands to know why guys like Nikki so much—even though she's obviously insane.
- His father tells Matthew that Nikki probably comes up to these guys with some sob story about how Murdoch used to beat her, and they feel the need to defend her because she's a pretty woman.
- Matthew says that he understands, but he still doesn't. He thinks that all these men who fall for Nikki's tricks are complete idiots.
