- Shining human shapes surround her, all former Abhorsen, and tell Sabriel it's not her time to die, so she wades back up the river, feeling the spirit of her father touch her hand on her way back to Life.
- Sabriel awakens, knowing many have died in the battle—Colonel Horyse, her former magic teacher, soldiers, and friends from school. But Touchstone is alive, and Sabriel remarks, with surprise, that she is too.
