Bring on the tough stuff - there’s not just one right answer.
- If you went to Solaris, who or what would your visitor be?
- How would Solaris be different if the protagonist were a woman? Would she have a male visitor? Is the Solaris ocean female? Why or why not?
- Solaris includes a lot of information about the planet, particularly in the form of long scientific digressions. Would there have been a better way to give you this information? Do you even need this information at all? Why is it there?
- Is Rheya real? Why or why not?
- Kelvin narrates Solaris. Could the book instead have had multiple narrators, or be told in third person? How does having Kelvin as the sole speaker fit with the novel's themes?
