For a three-act plot analysis, put on your screenwriter’s hat. Moviemakers know the formula well: at the end of Act One, the main character is drawn in completely to a conflict. During Act Two, she is farthest away from her goals. At the end of Act Three, the story is resolved.
Act I
Subtle, Face, and Doll Common concoct a bunch of schemes to swindle people out of their money.
Act II
Our favorite con artists proceed to swindle a bunch of chumps out of their money.
Act III
The schemers get totally busted when Lovewit comes home…but none of the victims get their money back.
