The Ear, the Eye, the Arm Chapter 32 Summary

  • The She Elephant breaks down the gate and makes a beeline for the kids.
  • Mrs. Horsepool-Worthingham hears the commotion and comes running out of the house, along with her pals.
  • She grabs a pitchfork and threatens the She Elephant, but it doesn't do much good.
  • Next, she unleashes the dogs and tells them to stop the She Elephant in her tracks. The bite her ankle, but she just pushes them away.
  • Tendai tries to get Kuda and Rita away and safely inside, but Trashman shows up and—trying to help—grabs Kuda.
  • It's clear the She Elephant has come to steal them back. But why?
  • It turns out the General shut down her little operation at Dead Man's Vlei and took all the people away. She has no worker bees now and she's going to change that by selling these kids and making some cash.
  • Tendai knows the She Elephant is desperate, but this is wrong; it's hurting people.
  • She doesn't care much about that.
  • Outside, she grabs a cab, kicks the driver out of it, and stuffs the kids inside.
