Character Role Analysis
Flamineo (and, arguably, Vittoria)
Yeah, the whole thing centers on Vittoria. But who really calls the shots and spurs the action? Flamineo. He gets the longest speeches, urges Brachiano to seduce Vittoria, murders Camillo, and so on and so on. He experiences the most ups and downs. Vittoria gets imprisoned in the middle of the play, but Flamineo continues his rise—he's the only character who really gets up to a personal peak, before falling in an astonishing and scary way; he's a classic hero-villain.
