Jack Power

Character Analysis

Mr. Power is attached to the offices of the Royal Irish Constabulary in Dublin Castle. He appears as a character in the story "Grace," in Dubliners. In Ulysses, he is a companion of Martin Cunningham. In "Hades," he rides with the men in the carriage on the way to Dignam's funeral. Later, in "Cyclops," he comes to meet Bloom with Cunningham, and helps Cunningham separate Bloom and the citizen. Power appears as one of the jury members in Bloom's masochistic court fantasy.
