In What Pet Should I Get?, the narrator and Kay are easily seduced by all the fluffy, cute, and exotic animals that they see at the pet shop. They're not focused on getting to know the animals or considering their care; instead, they're overwhelmed by the sheer number of animals that they're around. Every time they're on the verge of making a choice, they turn around and see yet another animal—a monkey, or puppy, or bird, or rabbit. And of course these animals always look more intriguing than the one they just saw.
