The Story Continued by Vincent Gilmore, of Chancery Lane, Solicitor
- Mr. Gilmore explains that he's writing down his part of the story at the request of his friend, Walter.
- Mr. Gilmore arrives at Limmeridge in November to settle things between Sir Percival and Laura.
- He's fairly confused about all the tension in the household.
- Sir Percival arrives, looking suave and debonair.
- He explains everything with Anne Catherick and Mrs. Catherick. Basically, Anne is a nut and he helped out the Cathericks by getting Anne a place at a very nice, private asylum where she would be cared for.
- Sir Percival then requests that they write to Mrs. Catherick and get her to corroborate the story.
- Mr. Gilmore thinks Sir Percival is behaving reasonably and can't figure out why Marian and Laura still seem so upset.
