The Wicked Witch of the West

Oz is filled with antagonists of all stripes. In fact, in most chapters, Dorothy and her friends are up against some sort of enemy. The Wicked Witch of the West is the big boss, so to speak—the one who Dorothy has to defeat to win the game. (That's because Oz says he'll send her home once the witch is dead.) Though Dorothy finds and kills her over the course of just two short chapters, the high stakes of the situation make the witch Public Enemy Number One.
