Dorothy Gale

The book begins and ends with our girl Dorothy, and the story in between follows her on her quest to the Emerald City. Along the way, she makes a lot of friends (and enemies!), but Dorothy is always the character who is most central to the story. Also worth noting is that in a land of many magical creatures, Dorothy seems to be the most powerful. She kills two wicked witches without even trying. And when she finally makes it home to Kansas, it's under her own steam, not with someone else's help.
