(3) Base Camp
Carrie is mostly a book about teenagers, so it's written in prose appropriate for teenager readers. The main text is easy to understand, and even the snippets of scholarly texts and newspapers that appear are written in clear language. Plus, the story is set in Maine, so the character and place names aren't hard to pronounce, and no one talks with a thick accent.
Of course, we're not trying to say the book is "easy to read," exactly. There are lots of gory scenes to wade through. So while the text might technically be easy to digest, you still might want to pack a barf bag. (Ew, gross, sorry, we know.)
