Tools Of The Trade
A stick. Lacrosse sticks vary in size depending on the position you play. Defender sticks are extra long and goalie sticks are extra wide.
A ball. Round, rubber, smooth, and painful when it hits you in the face.
Protective wear. Women wear a mouth-guard and goggles (source). The more physical men's game calls for gloves, shoulder pads, and a helmet. Goalies for both men and women wear helmets and additional padding (source). Did we mention how flying balls can hurt?
Cleats. They might not make you faster, but they do prevent you from slipping on your butt. Thanks, cleats.
An acceptance of repeatedly being hit by sticks. We're not saying that all lacrosse players are masochists. Let's be honest, though. Some of them must be.
