Quote #4
"I wish the others would all be killed. Take it out now and let me see it." (1.2.266-267)
When Harry turns down Edward's sexual request, Edward starts to push the envelope. He threatens to tell his father about Harry if Harry doesn't agree to give him sexual pleasure. He even orders Harry to take out his penis. But Harry still resists, even though the dude is a pedophile. Ugh. So icky.
Quote #5
"I don't want a husband. I want you." (1.4.76)
Sheesh, there are enough missed connections in this play to fill a hundred Craigslist pages. Everyone seems to want someone they can't be with. Ellen wants to have sex with her boss Betty. But Betty isn't interested, and in the end, Ellen ends up falling into a loveless marriage with Harry Bagley (yup, the gay pedophile). Hoo boy. We bet that marriage isn't the happiest.
Quote #6
"I'm sorry, I misunderstood, I would never have dreamt, I thought—" (1.4.125-126)
Harry Bagley wants to have sex with Clive. But when Harry makes his move, Clive is totally stunned. He flips out and tells Harry that he needs to get married right away to protect his reputation. Yeah, 'cause that always works out in real life.
