- It's been a month since Pearl's dad called her. Sure, she's not exactly speaking to him, but it would still be nice to know he cared about her.
- One day, Pearl's mom gets a letter in the mail saying their health insurance has been cancelled.
- Pearl's mom is angry (understandably) and knows her dad is to blame—after all, he's the one who paid the bills and was supposed to be in charge of this.
- Hoyt tells his sis that he'll take care of it.
- That gets Pearl thinking that she should write Amiel a note since he can't talk.
- She does, though she has a tough time translating her thoughts into Spanish. She asks where he learned to juggle and how he hurt his voice.
- As she's planning her letter, her dad calls. Pearl picks up and he tells her that he wants to take her to Paris.
- She's always wanted to go, especially since Robby gets to go every summer to visit his grandma, but Pearl wants to think about it a bit. She's not sure what they would do in Paris together, and it sounds like her dad wants them to stay with his "friend," a.k.a. new lover.
- She tells her dad she'll get back to him and hangs up.
- Then she sees Amiel walking in the fields and gives him the note she wrote.
