- When Pearl gets home, she looks up cangrejo and learns that it is crab. So Amiel loves seafood. Good to know.
- Her mom gets mad at her for ditching school, even if she was working out junk with her dad in her head.
- Pearl's mom points out that she went to work despite her trauma over the divorce.
- Pearl's totally grounded, but luckily, she's still allowed to go to Robby's seventeenth birthday party that evening.
- Upon arriving Pearl notices scallops, which reminds her of when her parents took Robby and her to Oceanside for her fifteenth birthday.
- They saw someone fishing for ray and asked the woman why. She told them that plenty of restaurants cut up ray and serve it as scallops. Gross.
- Everyone is a little disturbed by the switcheroo—except for Pearl's dad. He doesn't see what the big deal is.
- Back at the birthday party, Robby points out the so-called "scallops" to Pearl, and they both wonder whether they are actually from ray.
- Robby notices the car of his dad's crush in the driveway and asks Pearl to go check it out with him.
- They jump in and find out it's registered to Arnold Farlow. Before they get out, they see an ID card with the name Mary Beth Farlow and figure that's the girl Uncle Hoyt is having an affair with.
- Suddenly, Pearl's mom heads their way and asks them what they're doing. They can't tell the truth of course, so they jump out of the car just in time to pretend they were just hanging out.
- Pass around the cake and ice cream, because it's time for speeches. Aunt Agnès talks about how grown up Robby has become, and there's a lot of oohing and ah-ing on everyone's part.
- As all this is happening, Pearl notices Mary Beth passing out cake and ice cream to everyone. So she's one of the servers, eh?
- Pearl runs over to Robby to tell him as soon as the speeches are over, but by that point, Mary Beth has already left. Darn.
- Pearl's mom comes over and reports it's time to go, so they leave.
