The Invisible Museum (Noah, Age 14)
- Noah's emptying all his paint into the sink. As you do.
- He's still reeling from a fight with his mom. She was driving off in the rain. He shouted that he hated her. She was driving to tell Dad she wanted a divorce.
- As Noah empties the paint, the phone rings. Eventually, he answers it. It's a cagey policeman looking for Noah's dad. Instantly, Noah realizes something bad has happened.
- The policeman won't tell him what's up. After a few minutes, Noah's dad is home, followed by a police car. Uh oh.
- Noah's dad is here and he's crying. Noah lies without even meaning to: Mom had been on her way to ask him to come home.
- The day after his mom's funeral, Noah goes to Guillermo's studio. The artist is crying.
- Guillermo recognizes Noah on sight because Noah looks just like his mom. (But he didn't recognize Jude, who is Noah's twin?)
- For a moment, Guillermo and Noah cry in each other's arms. Noah's comforted, but then he's furious.
- His mother's death is Guillermo's fault, he screams at the artist. Noah lies and says she didn't love Guillermo. She was going to get back together with his dad.
- So many lies, Noah, so many lies.
