How It All Goes Down
Leah
- Leah and her father return to Kilanga from Leopoldville. No one, not even their family, is there to greet them.
- Many of the villagers have stopped associating with them because they no longer have any money. (When the Underdowns left, the Baptist Mission stopped sending them money.)
- Some villagers, like Mama Tataba, are generous enough to give them food, like oranges, but mostly they ignore the Prices.
- Okay, someone tell us why they're still here? Please?
- At the end of the chapter, Nelson, who is still sticking around, tells Leah that somebody (God? Jesus? Odin?) is testing faith for Mother and Ruth May, who are still in bed.
