- Mother finally gets out of bed. Rachel burns an egg omelet, and her mother decides to teach her how to cook.
- Meanwhile, Leah's been having a few internal crises. She wonders if she damaged Adah before they were born, and she wonders why her father, who is supposed to be spreading God's word, is so down on the ladies, all "Where is the place for girls in the Kingdom?" (3.7.22).
- If Father's wrong about staying in the Congo, "what else might he be wrong about?" (3.7.24).
