How we cite our quotes: All quotations are from The Princess Bride.
Quote #4
MIRACLE MAX: Wait, wait. I make him better, Humperdinck suffers?
INIGO: Humiliations galore.
MIRACLE MAX: Ha ha ha! Hi dah lig dah lah nay juh! That is a noble cause. Gimme the sixty-five. I'm on the job.
Before we go any further, we have to address Miracle Max's second line. "Hi dah lig dah lah nay juh." We did not make that up. He actually says all that nonsense. Hey, if it means something to him, who are we to judge? Anyway, here's another revenge story we can fully support. We learn that Max has been cast out and relegated to this tiny hut in the middle of the forest because the prince fired him from his job at the castle. Well…perfect. We already hate Humperdinck, so it should hardly be a quantum leap to get on board with Max.
Quote #5
COUNT RUGEN: You've got an overdeveloped sense of vengeance. It's going to get you into trouble someday.
Rugen may not be a sweetheart, but he shows here that he's definitely perceptive. It occurs to him exactly who Inigo is and why he's come after him. It doesn't help him escape death, mind you, but we have to throw him at least a couple of points for trying.
