- Surprisingly, we see from newspaper clippings on his apartment's walls that Travis has been hailed as a hero for rescuing Iris.
- On a voiceover, Iris' father reads the text of a letter thanking Travis, who was in a coma when he and Iris' mother picked her up in New York. He praises Travis and apologizes for not being able to meet him in person. He says Travis will be welcome in their home if he ever visits Pittsburgh.
- We see Travis on the street, talking with the other cabbies. Wizard points out someone waiting for a ride by Travis' cab.
- Inside the cab, it turns out its Betsy. They chat: Palantine won his party's nomination, and Travis says he hopes he wins.
- Betsy says she read about him in the papers, and asks him how he is. Travis says he feels all right now, no permanent pain.
- Travis drops her at her stop and insists on paying her fare for her.
- He drives off, into the night. We hear a weird noise, and see Travis' eyes flash in the mirror, before the ending credits come up and scenes of neon New York signs pass by.
