- Telling the school nurse he is sick works, and Torey's dad picks him up from school and takes him home.
- Before he gets out of the car, though, his dad tells him that the officers took the phone from the booth to get fingerprints, but before they could do it Bo confessed to making the phone call.
- Inside and alone, Torey stews over Bo's sacrifice and his own lie by not fessing up to the call earlier.
- He feels awful. Lying on the floor, Torey plays scales on his guitar to calm down.
- Then he remembers a time when he played a song at school that he'd heard on the radio and a bunch of people he didn't know, people from other neighborhoods, and even the boons, clapped for him. The song brought them all together.
- Bo Richardson was there, too, and asked if he could play the guitar sometime, but Torey had been rude to him.
- Torey feels super badly about how he treated Bo and other kids that weren't as fortunate as him. After all, it's not their fault they weren't born to educated, privileged, wealthy parents with a good marriage and no substance abuse issues.
- Torey just got lucky, that's all, and he feels awful about his total lack of empathy for others.
- Just then, Leandra calls and asks him what's up, but he won't answer her questions; he only wants to know if she's seen Ali.
- As you can imagine, this doesn't go over well, and Leandra gets really hurt and suspicious, but again Torey doesn't feel like explaining anything to her.
- So instead he accuses her of being a bad Christian for calling people names and judging them harshly.
- To get a grip, Torey goes into the basement hoping the creepy ghost of Chris will appear and get his mind off other stuff, but it doesn't.
