- Tipper "was quick to judge and played favorites," but Cadence loved her. Tipper baked muffins and let her eat as many as she wanted.
- Cadence goes to Tipper's sewing room at Clairmont, where her grandmother made quilts. She imagines herself turning to liquid and rusting the sewing machine.
- The other Sinclairs are pretending Tipper never existed, which is what they do after death or divorce. Gat doesn't get it, though, so he keeps mentioning her.
