- Harris comes to visit them in Burlington. It's his first visit since before Tipper died.
- He looks old, and Cadence doesn't remember him looking so old.
- They go outside for a walk and he starts picking peonies off the bushes. Cadence tells him her mom will be mad, but he does it anyway.
- Harris reminisces about how Cadence was the first grandchild, talking about her in the third person as if she's not there.
- Cadence has dyed her hair black, and Harris tells her he didn't recognize her. He gives her three peonies he picked, and she thinks he looks both pitiful and powerful.
