Surrender Chapter 20 Summary

Finnigan

  • Finnigan sits, listening to the story Gabriel just told us. Another time, he might be interested in the details, but tonight, he just wants Gabriel to get through it.
  • He comments that McIllwraith is a traitor. Then Finnigan asks Gabriel why he did it—or, why then, to be precise.
  • Gabriel simply says that he had nothing left to lose.
  • Finnigan gets it. He also points out a problem with Gabriel's plan: He figures people will go easy on him now that the bones are found because he's dying—that it will garner sympathy from everyone.
  • Well, Finnigan's come to save Gabriel now. He will make everyone pay for any wrong they've done to Gabriel, just like old times.
  • Gabriel corrects him, though: He's not dying to get a jury's sympathy.
  • Nope.
  • He's dying because it's the only way to kill Finnigan.
  • Yeah… they're the same person.
