Men's vs. Women's
Water polo happens to be one of those sports that's played pretty much exactly the same way by men and women. The ball is ever so slightly smaller in the women's game—men play with a size 5, women play with a size 4. But that's about where the differences end (source). In fact, they're so similar, they share an official NCAA rule book.
Because of Title IX, more scholarship moolah and more programs are available for women than for men across all NCAA divisions (source). Oh, yeah, and the U.S. women's national team's won more gold medals in twelve years than the men's team has in over a hundred (source).
At least the male water polo players have one hundred years of history to live up to. Plus, men's water polo was the first ever Olympic team sport (source).
Yeah, that's just as good…right? Right?!
