Scholarship Qualifications

Scholarship Qualifications

Water polo is an equivalency sport, which means that each program has a set amount of scholarship money it can split however it chooses between recruits. For men, that magic number is 4.5 scholarships at Divisions I and II. For women, it's 8 at both levels (source).

Now, most college water polo programs roster over 25 athletes (source). Why so many? Well, the number is misleading. Those 25 athletes usually comprise both a varsity and a JV team. Chances are, you're not going to get a full scholarship anywhere to play water polo. So, be sure to explore other avenues for financial assistance. Apply for scholarships. Apply for financial aid. Get a job as a lifeguard so you'll never have to leave the pool. College ain't cheap, people.
