Carrie Kelly
- Moose is listening to his mom crying in the other room and thinking about how awful the Esther P. Marinoff School is.
- He thinks about all the normal things that he'll get to do in life, things that Natalie won't be able to. He thinks about all the treatments that haven't helped—and then thinks about how Carrie Kelly, this new doctor, actually has made Natalie better.
- He finds Carrie Kelly's number and gives her a call to thank her. He also asks Dr. Kelly if there's any hope for the Marinoff School. Kelly says that it would help Natalie, and she's surprised that she didn't get in, but she's working on her case. She also says that she understands why his mom lies about Natalie's age, though it probably wasn't that big of an issue.
- Moose is determined to help. His next step is to go to the warden. He has no idea what the warden could possibly do, but he's the most powerful person Moose can think of.
- The warden is pretty nice to Moose. He understands that Moose is looking for help and says that he'll keep his ears open for someone who might be able to work as a connection.
- Moose gets another harebrained idea: What about Al Capone?
- The warden says that it would be a bad idea—Capone may have influence in the world, but he can't give any prisoners special attention.
- Moose gets angry and accuses the warden of wanting Moose to obey rules but not think about them for himself.
- The warden lets Moose leave with a stern warning.
