Whether it's King Derwin learning to apologize and be happy with what he's got, Bartholomew learning to stick to his guns, or Optimus Prime finding hope in humankind, there's a lot of transformation going down in Bartholomew and the Oobleck. In fact, we'll go so far as to say that this is kind of a transformation story; the kind where characters have to change (and fast) if they're going to solve any problems. Even the setting isn't exempt, transforming from peaceful and idyllic to a giant ooblecky mess and back again.
Questions and Answers
Q: Why doesn't the King say "I'm sorry" sooner? I would have!
A: The King is less mature than you.
Q: Bartholomew's doing all the work! Why doesn't anyone help him?
A: They're trying; they're just incompetent. But Bartholomew also has got to learn not to back down from the King if he's ever going to get any real help.
Q: The kingdom looks so cool covered in oobleck. Where can I get some?
A: Is that the phone ringing?
