Character Analysis
She is kind, thoughtful, and excited about books and learning, just like a good librarian ought to be. But this one goes even further by singling out Bud to help him find his way, literally and figuratively. She teaches him to use an atlas, read maps, and calculate how far a place is and how long it would take him to walk there. She also finds him a great book to pass the time and gives him her lunch when she notices he hasn't eaten. The librarian isn't really a guide for Bud, but is a helper character.
