Character Analysis
Not only does this character provide a nice atmosphere but he also is the main person to talk to the boys and answer their questions about Hoovervilles and the history behind them. He is patient and kind. He explains to Bud that, "All these people…are just like you, they're tired, hungry, and a little bit nervous about tomorrow This here is the right place for y'all to be 'cause we're all in the same boat. And you boys are nearer to home than you'll ever get" (8.78). He is right about most of what he said. Most of the people living in Hoovervilles will never find another home as welcoming, but Bud does.
