- Back in the dorm, Zoey makes herself a sandwich before introducing Nala to Stevie Rae. Zoey tells her about the whole weird evening, including the encounters with Elizabeth's ghost, Heath and Kayla, and Erik Night.
- Stevie Rae tells Zoey that Aphrodite has a special affinity, and that's one reason she's leader of the Dark Daughters—she gets accurate visions of the future, especially tragedies.
- Next, Zoey asks Stevie Rae if it's normal to feel anything when a circle's being cast. Stevie Rae questions Zoey until it becomes obvious that Zoey has a special connection with all five elements, which not a single High Priestess in all vampyre history has had.
- Zoey asks Stevie Rae to keep it to herself for a while, since she's self-conscious about not fitting in, and Stevie Rae reluctantly agrees.
- Finally, Stevie Rae tells Zoey about what went down between her and Aphrodite: When Stevie Rae was new at school, Aphrodite invited her to a ritual—but not as a participant, as a refrigerator (a.k.a. blood donor). Stevie Rae cried and left, and afterward became friends with Damien, Shaunee, and Erin.
- Zoey realizes that because Aphrodite invited her to a ritual (instead of making her be a donor), Aphrodite was trying to disgust Zoey so much that she wouldn't want to join the Dark Daughters.
- Now, of course, Zoey thinks she has to join the Dark Daughters, precisely because Aphrodite is trying to keep her out. She also decides she needs to find out why.
