- When they enter the hall, Miri is blown away by how beautiful it is and by the lovely sound of music coming from the string quartet.
- The chief delegate calls out Miri's name and she curtsies as the prince bows to her. Each girl's name is called out and the same thing happens over and over again.
- The prince comes over and asks Miri for the first dance. As they dance, she struggles to make conversation with him but it pretty much revolves around small talk; he doesn't seem to be trying at all.
- The prince seems to be pretty distant with all the girls, and Miri spends her time dancing with other people and feasting on delicious food.
- After dinner the prince comes up to Miri again, but this time invites her to take a walk with him—she agrees, but he seems just as remote as they walk.
- Finally Miri's had enough and she asks him why he's even here if he's not going to try to get to know any of the girls.
- The prince loosens up and confesses that he's overwhelmed. He had hoped that one girl would just seem right, but now he has to choose between so many girls that he doesn't know.
- He tells her that she seems so happy and comfortable and he's enjoyed talking to her the most out of all the girls.
