Shock Rating
PG
Aside from animated movies, you don't get a lot of "PG" these days. But that's the rating this one received from the MPAA.
Most producers seem to think that, even with a film for younger audiences, if there isn't at least some raunchiness, vulgarity or gore in there, it's not going to be any good. Unless you count Westley's use of the word "breasts" at one point, or Inigo's totally forgivable expletive when he offs Rugen, The Princess Bride is tamer than a shrieking eel that's been raised in captivity.
So yeah, this is one movie that didn't feel the need to shock in that way. Really, the only truly shocking thing about it is how darn good it is.
(Sorry we used the word "darn." We're already raunchier than The Princess Bride.)
