Character Analysis
Sam's mom's boyfriend, Mark, is an easy-going and caring guy that she met at work a couple years back. After they reminisce at dinner one night, Sam suddenly sees a lot more of this guy around his house. Before he knows it, Mark moves in with his mom and they have a baby.
Mark becomes part of Sam's family while Sam is going through his own baby drama with Alicia. We might say that's not the best time to switch up the family dynamic, but still, Sam appreciates the fact that his mom's new guy is responsible and takes care of his mom. As Sam puts it:
Can a person be the opposite of another person? If he can, then Mark is the opposite of Dad, in every way, apart from they're both English guys of the same height and color, with similar tastes in women. You know what I'm saying. They were opposite in every other way. (13.26)
Luckily for Mark, that's a good thing.
