Dad

Not only is Deanna's dad her antagonist, he reminds her of that almost every time she walks through the door. He's constantly thwarting her, starting with the night he finds her in the car with Tommy and refuses to discuss it. He doesn't see that his daughter is doing what uncertain girls have done with pushy boys since pretty much the dawn of time, so he doesn't give her any emotional support at all, and everywhere she goes he tells her not to get into trouble, because he expects that she will.

Because he won't forgive Deanna, she's struggling to forgive herself. She also really wants a relationship with him, but the closest he can come to telling her he loves her is when he suggests going shopping for used cars.
