Story of a Girl Chapter 4 Summary

  • The next night, Deanna and Tommy are closing things down at Picasso's, and he tries to entice her with "burnables," a.k.a. pot.
  • She says no, but there's a complication: she's still attracted to him, even though she loathes him.
  • She remembers the day they first met. She was in the bathroom trying on some new makeup; Tommy was hanging out with Darren.
  • When Tommy came in to use the bathroom, he saw Deanna in makeup and told her she looked "trashy." But he leaned in really close to her as he said it, and she found herself kind of turned on.
  • She washed her face, and he pressed his body against her back and told her she was pretty.
  • Back at Picasso's, he calls her Dee Dee, which is what he used to call her when they hooked up. She comes to her senses and tells him that Stacy is coming to pick her up, and if she tells Stacy and Stacy tells Darren, Darren will beat Tommy up like he did after his dad caught them together.
  • Michael tells Deanna he's got her back if Tommy's bugging her, and she manages to escape.
  • Back at home, she sits with her pen, writing a story about how once the girl remembered what had happened, she could start forgetting.
