The Art of Fielding Chapter 3 Summary

How It All Goes Down

  • Henry doesn't go home for the holidays, instead working his part-time job at the dining hall.
  • He talks on the phone to his parents, who are alarmed that his roommate is (gasp!) gay.
  • To illustrate how gay Owen is, Henry has a flashback to that time Owen took him shopping for jeans.
  • His parents don't want him wearing those gay jeans, and they encourage him to donate them, but Henry decides to keep them.
