- The Dude goes to pick up his recovered car, which is missing the briefcase with the $1 million and has been used as a toilet by a vagrant.
- He then gets drinks with Walter and Donny at the bowling alley, but his pals don't do a great job of making The Dude feel better about his unrighteous situation.
- The cowboy who's been narrating the film shows up and joins The Dude at the bar. He compliments The Dude on his style and proceeds to spout some weird gibberish: "Sometimes, you eat the bar [bear]. And sometimes, the bar, well, it eats you."
- That's a deep comment about the arbitrariness of the universe, kind of like "s**t happens."
- The cowboy moseys on out, and The Dude gets a Triassic landline call from Maude Lebowski, who scolds him for not going to the doctor and tells him that she needs to see him immediately.
- The bear is definitely eating The Dude at this point.
