The Scorch Trials Chapter 24 Summary

How It All Goes Down

  • At this point, the storm is in full gear. There's thunder and lightning, and the lightning is dangerous.
  • Oddly enough, there's no rain.
  • Thomas is having a pretty tough time seeing in the storm, when all the sudden a lightning bolt strikes the ground and blows him to the side.
  • As Thomas gets up, he notices that Jack is in a crater—completely mutilated.
  • Jack has nothing below his knee, and his whole body is burned and bloody. Jack's a goner.
  • Minho picks Thomas up, and they keep moving.
  • But then another lightning bolt strikes, and this time it pretty much hits Minho. Uh oh.
  • Turns out the lightning bolt doesn't kill Minho; it just sets him on fire.
  • So Minho does the whole stop-drop-and-roll technique, while Thomas throws dirt on him. Works like a charm.
  • Minho's pretty beaten up, but the kids keep moving. Gladers are getting tossed about right and left.
  • Finally, Aris reaches a building ahead, and the remaining kids enter. Phew.
