Three Times Lucky is as clean as a whistle when it comes to romance and passion. The whole book is told from the perspective of eleven-year-old Mo, who is pretty innocent when it comes to all that mushy stuff. The only thing that counts as vaguely romantic is her puppy dog crush on Dale's older brother Lavender, who is nineteen and obviously just humoring her affections. Mo constantly asks him to marry her and he says no—and that's the extent of her love life.
