Exactly how steamy is this story?

For a book where all the main characters are teenagers who are probably plagued by raging hormones, What Happened to Goodbye is pretty tame in the sex department. Mclean hardly gets anywhere with Dave physically—for most of the book, all they do is lean on each other, hold hands (very briefly), and touch each other's faces. They're practically acting like kindergarteners with a crush. At the very end, we finally get to see them kiss… and that's it.
