- Evie goes downstairs, but the dance doesn't go quite like she expected. All the teenagers downstairs go to the same high school and she's not pretty enough to spark the interest of any of the boys. Being invisible is the pits.
- Or at least it is until something worse happens—an ugly boy approaches her (we, of course, are being sarcastic… Evie not so much, though). She realizes that it's the bellhop from the hotel. His name is Wally and he asks her if she wants to dance.
- Evie says no and goes out to the pool to escape chatting with him. Outside, she sits down on a chair and throws her mother's sandals into the pool; she feels completely foolish.
- Then she realizes that she's not alone. There's a super handsome young man sitting on the other side of the pool smoking a cigarette—basically every teenage girl's dreamboat.
- The man comes up to her and they banter about her escaping the dance. He asks her to dance and she's surprised that he's paying attention to her at all.
- She takes his hand and they dance together—and Evie feels like this is truly a magical moment. Her vacation just got a lot more interesting.
