How we cite our quotes: (Chapter.Paragraph)
Quote #7
She looked at me. "Why shouldn't I go? He said he wanted to talk to me."
I couldn't believe it. "But you know he's my sworn enemy."
Jas went all reasonable. "Yes, but he's not my sworn enemy, he seems to really like me."
I was beyond the valley of livid. "Jas, if you are my friend you will not go and meet Robbie."
She just went silent and tight-lipped. I slammed out of her house. (7.709-713)
Though Georgia is often jealous of Jas, she never thought Jas would become her rival for Robbie's affections. Thing is, it seems Georgia's forgetting that Jas misses Robbie's brother something fierce—so maybe accepting Robbie's invitation to meet up has nothing to do with betraying Georgia and everything to do with seeing if Robbie wants to discuss Tom.
Quote #8
"She's supposed to be quite clever. I think she's applying for Oxford."
"So she's a swot, that's no reason to like her—anyway, learning stuff is not clever. Just because I can't remember the Plantagenet line doesn't make me not clever." (9.826-827)
We often see Georgia fretting about how she measures up looks-wise, but here we see that she also feels insecure about her intellect. Which means she hops right on the jealousy train when she catches wind that Lindsay might actually have a brain inside her beautiful head, too.
Quote #9
Suddenly I had the feeling that we were doing something wrong… what if I found out something I didn't want to know? What if she met Robbie and it was quite obvious that he really liked her? Could I stand it? Did I want to see him kissing her? (9.864)
While stalking Lindsay, Georgia wonders if she could handle seeing Robbie with her. Might she just explode into a fit of jealousy if she realizes that Robbie actually adores his girlfriend? We're honestly not sure, so it's a good thing this doesn't happen.
