- The last shadow jump landed them in Portugal with the Athena Parthenos atop a temple. Oops.
- To make things worse, a flaming ghost is beckoning Nico.
- He follows the ghost, who leads him to a temple made of human skulls where, of course, Nico's dad Hades is waiting.
- Hades informs Nico that the hunter pursuing them is Orion, and they cannot defeat him…only outrun him.
- He also cryptically (can Hades talk any other way?) says, "Some deaths should not be prevented" (14.77).
- Nico rushes back to Reyna and Hedge.
