How It All Goes Down
- Meanwhile, in a limousine outside, we find Alfred Gillette, one of those talking head intelligence guys from back in Chapter 15. Turns out he's a traitor.
- Gillette does some ranting about how no one appreciates him. The European (Carlos's man) doesn't seem to care much.
- Abbott comes out of the house. Gillette accosts him and pulls him into a limousine. The driver leaves.
- At first, Abbott thinks Gillette's a traitor, but Gillette fools him into thinking he's just outraged at Abbott's secrecy.
- Gillette gets Abbott to admit they don't know what's up with Bourne. The European says, hey, that's what we wanted to know.
- The European gets in the car and kills Gillette.
- Then the European taunts Abbott, tells him it really is Bourne out there, and that he knows the real Bourne was killed back in Medusa, so Cain is just using it as an alias.
- Then the European shoots Abbott.
- The European and another man get into Treadstone as Stevens leaves, killing Stevens and the other people inside (Margaret and the Yachtsman and Major Webb).
- The assassins put Abbott's body inside and transfer Bourne's fingerprints (they got them from the bank in Zurich) to a glass, so that it looks like he did the killing.
