The Bourne Identity Chapter 31 Summary

How It All Goes Down

  • Bourne tells Marie the backstory about his identity.
  • Marie's pretty happy about it, because it turns out she was right, and Bourne's not a cold-blooded assassin, after all. He isn't bad for her, baby. (If you don't count the kidnapping and all the people he's killed, that is.)
  • Bourne does point out that he's not really out of trouble with Treadstone. They're not likely to believe he's an amnesiac…because that's really incredibly improbable.
  • We switch over to some flunky at the American embassy. Bourne's contacted him. The flunky contacts Conklin. Along the way, there's lots of tough-guy spy talk.
  • Conklin sets up more spy nonsense for contact with Bourne and then gets in touch with killers so he can gun Bourne down when they finally set up their meeting.
