Neighbors
- Soon Hà's neighbors begin harassing them, even going so far as to throw a brick through their window.
- The cowboy calls the police, who only tell them to stay inside.
- They can't stay inside their whole lives, though, so Hà's mother decides to go and meet all the neighbors. Introducing themselves goes pretty badly, however, because no one wants to meet them; they are met by slammed doors and yelling.
- Finally, they meet Mrs. Washington who is friendly and warm; she says she will tutor them.
