What's there not to like about Peter Hamilton? He's a rich, handsome, successful basketball coach… Oh, right—he also had an affair with Mclean's mom and broke up their family. That's what's not to like (at least as far as Mclean is concerned). Even though Mclean avoids Peter just as intently as she avoids her mom, he still makes an effort to reach out to her for her mother's sake. So when she and her mom get into a fight, Peter contacts her directly to ask if she'll go to a basketball game with them, which makes her realize just how upset her mom must be by her cold behavior.
